The Maryland Writers’ Association 2012 Novel Contest: Great Beginnings is now open for entries. MWA is dedicated to helping writers hone their craft. That’s why the organization will give feedback on every Novel Contest submission. The contest is open to all writers; you don’t have to be a member of MWA to enter.
To enter, submit the first 7000 words (max) of your unpublished novel in English, with an optional 200-500 word synopsis of the novel. Three entries maximum. Entries are accepted electronically until June 30, 2012.

Categories are Mainstream/Literary; Young Adult; Science Fiction/Fantasy; and Historical
Fees: Registration: $5 for MWA members, $10 for non-members; First entry: $20 for MWA members, $30 for non-members; 2nd and 3rd entries: $15/each for MWA members, $25/each for non-members. If you join MWA now, pay the member rate and enjoy all of the organization’s benefits.
Prizes: 1) Cash prizes for first, second and third place in all categories; 2) Free attendance at the October 2012 MWA Writers Conference in Baltimore, MD, for first place winner in each category; 3) Free attendance for every winner and a guest at the awards event following the October 20, 2012 conference.
Winners will be notified by phone about October 10, 2012. The list of Winners will be posted on the Novel Contest website.
